SKJ Ancient Bead Art: Tokyo & Bangkok

Beads have always been more than just pieces of jewelry for human adornment. Anyone passionate about ancient beads will appreciate this. For thousands of years they have been crafted, worn, traded, passed on, lost or even buried by the sands of time. Fascinating historical details concerning many facets of ancient civilizations can be expressed by these wonderful items. If only beads could talk, what stories would they tell us?

But then again, from a purely aesthetic point, many of these old and ancient beads just look so damn good. From superbly balanced and symmetrical Bactrian & Roman agates in near perfect condition, showcased in museums for all to admire, to the ugliest, oldest agate beads from the Indus Valley and Ancient Mesopotamia, each ancient bead has its own unique charm and beauty. In the eyes of the bead lover, even the most negelcted pieces deserve affection. Whether you are seeking a handcrafted object of beauty from antiquity or something more deep and meaningful, look no further than these remarkable ancient beads.

This website is part of a family run business operating out of Tokyo and Bangkok. It was designed to showcase some of our many beautiful beads and collectible items. The concept given to our website designer was one of a minimalist presentation which allows the items to really speak for themselves. In short we wanted a site that was a pleasure to view and free from distraction.

While our passion is for old, ancient and antique beads – which we have been collecting and trading for many years – we also deal in new gemstone beads, Roman-period glass and finished jewelry. Most of the items shown on this website were sourced either by ourselves on our travels or from our friends & trading partners throughout the Middle East, Africa & Asia. We also buy from private collection sales, international gem and jewelry shows, and bead traders passing through Bangkok. All photography is done "in-house"; we attempt to display items in the best possible way and as accurately as we can.

We guarantee all our old and ancient items as authentic: all descriptions are entered as accurately as possible to the best of our ability. We are collectors ourselves and only wish to deal in genuine items. We value trust and enjoy the friendships we have gained through this business. We have a full returns/refund policy should your item not meet your expectations.

Most items shown on this website are for sale and we welcome enquires. Shipping charges are either included in the item prices, or an international flat rate shipping charge is calculated at the rate of US$ 6.00 for the first item. Extra items are calculated at US$ 1 each, or by weight for standard registered airmail. Shipping charges for larger orders of rough and specimen stone are calculated by weight according to current postal service rates.

All items are shipped from Bangkok. Postal services available include Thailand post registered airmail, EMS express and FedEx services. Typical transit time to most destinations is 2-3 weeks for regular airmail and less than a week for courier and express services. If you wish to use EMS express or FedEx, please email us for an up to date quote. Customs charges are the buyer's responsibility; please inform us if you have any special requirements for customs declaration to your country.

Our return policy is straighforward. Please notify us within 1 week of delivery confirmation if you wish to return an item. Items can be returned for a full refund; return shipping charges are the buyer's responsibility.
